María Fassi signed a card of 63 strokes after the first round and signed a new mark on the field of the Dubai Moonlight Classic
Mexican golfer María Fassi took the lead and broke a course record at the Dubai Moonlight Classic, tournament that is held at the Emirates Golf Club, Faldo Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is part of the Ladies European Tour.
In said tournament, the Hidalgo signed a card of 63 strokes after the first round and that was enough to sign a new record in the field. Fassi started a solid round with a birdie on the first hole. Then he had his first sin at the flag on hole 3 with a bogey and only had another slip on hole 8 by throwing one up.
While, in the second round it was almost perfect, as it had 29 impacts, the product of five birdies and an eagle, same that got in the par-5 of hole 16 that consists of 464 yards.
“The field record is incredible but what makes me happy is that I enjoy the round. I played very well and hopefully this feeling can be with me in the remaining rounds, ”said the Hidalgo.
“I played solid and without serious errors. I have felt very good with my swing and with the field strategy. On the green I was very good. Embique the opportunities I had for birdie. A couple of bogeys due to bad luck in how the ball came out but in general very comfortable with the round. There is a long way to go and some details need to be improved, ”added Fassi from Dubai.
María Fassi is the solo leader with -9 under par, followed by South African Lee-Anne Pace with -8, while third place is for Germany’s Olivia Cowan, who signed a 65-impact card to finish with -6.
