Source: Chicago Bulls' Patrick Williams will have surgery for a dislocated wrist and miss the remainder of the regular season

Chicago Bulls power forward Patrick Williams will undergo surgery to repair a dislocated left wrist and is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season, sources told ESPN.

Williams went down hard after a flagrant foul by New York’s Mitchell Robinson Thursday night, landing on his left wrist and suffering a severe perilunar dislocation, the source said.

There is hope that Williams will return for the playoffs, a source told ESPN, according to a timeline. The Bulls are 4-1 to start this season.

Williams’ loss represents a significant blow to Chicago, which had the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to play a major role this season. Williams missed most of the preseason after spraining his ankle.

After leaving Florida State as a freshman, the 20-year-old Williams showed flashes of promise in his rookie season, but struggled with being consistent. A solid performance in the NBA summer league had the Bulls hoping he could take a leap in his progress this season alongside Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.
