NEW YORK – Trae Young was fined $ 15,000 by the NBA on Friday for making contact with a referee.
The star point guard was penalized for his actions with 6:41 remaining in the second quarter of the Atlanta Hawks’ 122-111 loss to the Washington Wizards on Thursday.
Young was driving to the left and was hit by defender Raul Neto, his momentum carrying him across the baseline after he missed the shot but was not fouled. As he ran back onto the court, Young bumped his arm into Officer Ben Taylor, who called him out for a technical foul.
Young is one of the players expected to miss a few fouls he received earlier after the NBA emphasized this season on cutting calls against defenders when the offensive player initiated contact.
