Diego Schwartzman (15th in the world) fell 7-6 (4) and 7-6 (2) to Marcos Giron (57th) in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Paris. It could have been the Argentine’s last game of the season.
With his loss to Giron, Schwartzman was left with no chance to repeat one of his great feats of 2020: playing the ATP Finals. Between Ruud, Hurkacz, Sinner and Norrie the last two places will be defined for Turin.
Schwartzman appears registered to play the ATP 250 in Stockholm next week, although in Vienna he had stated that if he arrived without a chance to qualify for the ATP Finals, he would close his season.
