Dominican Baseball Federation begins preliminary phase of the Robinson Canó Cup

The regional tournaments in the sub 12 category will classify the teams that will be present at the event that bears the name of the Major League Baseball player in January 2022

The Robinson Canó Cup It will begin its preliminary phase in this month of November with a view to the tournament scheduled to be held from January 12 to 16, 2022 in San Pedro de Macorís.

The qualifying phase in the sub 12 category begins this Saturday, November 6, with the confrontation between Montecristi and Dajabón, followed by the triangle between Higüey, La Romana and Seibo on the 13th of this month.

Despite being a national championship with 32 provincial associations, the teams were divided by regions for competitive purposes.

“In La Fedobe we are working to finish 2021 in style, that is why we announced the holding of 11 regional tournaments in the U12 category, where the champions of each region will be participating in the Robinson Canó Cup from January 12 to 16, 2022 in San Pedro de Macorís ”, explained Juan Núñez, president of FEDOBE.

These tournaments take place in the context of the Dominican Republic achieving for the first time its qualification for the U12 World Cup to be held in Chinese Taipei in the summer of 2022 and these competitions will be used to gather the best possible talent and select for the world tournament.

On November 20, San José de Ocoa, Peravia and Azua are measured, followed by the duels between San Francisco de Macorís, Hermanas Mirabal and Sánchez Ramirez in the Duarte province.

In the month of December, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor and Monte Plata will be measured, followed by a duel between Nagua and Samaná.
