Nadal, another return in the Mubadala exhibition

Another name was confirmed for the Abu Dhabi Mubadala exhibit in December. It is nothing less than Rafael Nadal.

The 35-year-old Spaniard has been a frequent visitor to the tournament over the years and used it as a preseason in the United Arab Emirates for the new season and the Australian Open as his ultimate goal. The former world number one won it five times and is the defending champion after defeating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2019 final.

In this way, it adds to the recent confirmed Dominic Thiem (also returning after a prolonged stoppage due to injury), Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov, among others.

After losing in the semifinals of the French Open in June, Nadal underwent treatment for a foot injury and has since played just two games, at the Washington Open in August.

“My plan is to play against Abu Dhabi in December and then in a tournament before Australia. That is my goal,” said the 20-time Grand Slam champion.

“We are working hard to make this happen. The injury to my foot still needs to improve a little, but I am already training for almost an hour and a half a day, so that is positive,” he completed to the official media of the competition.
