Portland Trail Blazers: President Neil Olshey Faces Misconduct Investigation

The president of operations of the Portland Trail Blazers, Neil Olshey, is under an independent investigation commissioned by the team into allegations of misconduct in the workplace, a source confirmed to ESPN Saturday.

In a statement, the team acknowledged an investigation but did not name Olshey, saying the Trail Blazers were “recently notified of concerns about the work environment by staff. In response, we immediately contacted O’Melveny & Myers, a firm. with significant experience in this area, to conduct a full, fair and independent review of these concerns and will take appropriate action based on its results. “

Olshey is alleged to have created a hostile work environment, with instances of harassment and intimidation, according to a report by Yahoo Sports.

News of the Olshey investigation was first reported by The Athletic and comes days after ESPN reported a history of alleged misconduct by Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver.

Olshey, 56, has been a member of the Trail Blazers’ front office since 2012, when he took over as general manager after nine years with the LA Clippers organization. Olshey was promoted to his current position with Portland in 2015.

The Trail Blazers are off to a 4-5 start with coach Chauncey Billups, who was hired during the offseason amid concerns about his involvement in a 1997 rape allegation.

Olshey was steadfast in his support for Billups at the time of the hiring, relying on the findings of an independent investigation commissioned by the Trail Blazers.
