Melky Cabrera decides a duel for Águilas against Licey in the Dominican Baseball League

The veteran Melky Cabrera, with 17 years of experience in the Major Leagues, hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to unravel a close game, and the Águilas Cibaeñas defeated the Tigres del Licey 1-0, to establish themselves as leaders in the League Dominican Baseball.

Wendolyn Bautista (2-0) retired two blank innings as a reliever to win the game. Aaron Barrett (0-2) was the loser after allowing the only run of the game and two hits without taking outs in his relief.

At San Pedro de Macorís, Socrates Brito went 3-2 with two RBIs and Jeremy Peña hit 5-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in the Estrellas Orientales’ 5-2 victory over the Leones del Escogido.

Jake Kalish (1-0) completed a three-round break for the victory. The setback went to the record of Denyi Reyes (0-2), punished with five touchdowns and six hits in two and two thirds innings.

In San Francisco de Macorís, the Toros del Este defeated the Gigantes del Cibao 8-3.

Rodolfo Castro was 3-for-5 with a solo homer, Jesús Sánchez hit two doubles in six at-bats with an RBI and Yamaico Navarro was 4-1 with two RBIs.

Anthony Gose (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings with two fans without allowing a run for the win. André Rienzo (1-1) fell, after conceding three scores and four hits in two and a third chapters.

The Águilas Cibaeñas lead the circuit with a 7-2 record, followed by Leones (5-4), Estrellas (5-4), Gigantes (4-5) Tigres (3-6) and Toros (3-6).
