River Plate vs. Board of Trustees - Match Report - November 7, 2021

(ESPN.com) – River defeated Patronato de Paraná 5-0 at the Monumental and with 46 points escaped again at the top of the Professional Soccer League.

El Millonario is seven units away from Talleres, the guard, who had won on Saturday, and five dates from the end, with 15 points at stake, is heading towards the first local championship of the Gallardo era.

It was a perfect night for Núñez’s men, with four goals from Julián Alvarez, the tournament’s top scorer with 15 goals, and one of the great figures in the Argentine championship today.

River started the game in the best way. As often happens with rivals who come out to take refuge behind and narrow spaces, the passing of the minutes complicates the attacking teams and they cannot obtain the advantage.

That problem was quickly resolved for River, before a Board that sought to defend itself well close to Ibáñez. At 13 minutes, Enzo Pérez recovered a ball near midfield, Palavecino took the ball and took a great shot from outside the area for 1 to 0.

Little by little, the visitor tried to cheer up and reach the Armani goal, but when the actions seemed to match, Julián Alvárez appeared, who after a rebound and a poor response from Ibáñez touched the ball towards the goal for the 2-0.

Already with the 2 to 0 everything was to ask of River, and to make matters worse for the Board, at 37 minutes Ibáñez was going to make another big mistake that led to the 3 to 0 that settled the match. The goalkeeper and captain tried to go out playing, no less than against Julián Alvarez, the striker stole the ball and scored the 3-0.

At 42 minutes, the difference widened: again Julián Alvarez took a rebound from the goalkeeper after a good counter for the lapidary 4 to 0 of the first half.

The rest of the game was over. River regulated in the complement against a knocked out opponent after a first half where everything went wrong, and where his goalkeeper, one of his references, did not have the best night.

There was time anyway for more emotions. On the River side, it is clear. And again the protagonist was Julián Alvárez in an unforgettable night (yet another), when after another against and with the rival turned on the attack he defined only before the departure of Ibáñez.

River, on the way to the title, will be Platense (visitor), Racing (local), Central (visitor), Defensa y Justicia (local) and Atlético Tucumán (visitor). Although Talleres does not get out of the fight and in football the last word is never said, it gives the feeling that this championship, to River and Gallardo, no one takes it out.
