Josema Giménez spoke on Tuesday about the present of the Uruguayan National Team and gave his opinion about the questions to Maestro Óscar Washington Tabárez, coach of the Celeste.
Upon arriving at the Carrasco International Airport, the Atlético de Madrid defender gave a press conference and highlighted how he is doing in football: “Personally, I’m fine. After the injury I had against Colombia, I was able to play after ten days, so I didn’t It was so serious, I come with filming, with games and minutes up; that is the most important thing, that we are healthy ”.
In the game against Colombia on Thursday, October 7, Giménez had suffered an injury in the abductor region of his right leg, being replaced at minute 60 by Ronald Araujo. That injury prevented him from being in order against Argentina and Brazil, but he was able to play again on Tuesday, October 19, entering the second half of the match between Atlético Madrid and Liverpool for the Champions League.
The goals of the Celeste suffered against Argentina and Brazil raised serious questions about the continuity of Tabárez.
Giménez evaluated: “It was ugly, especially because of the situation that we had to live, obviously people know what the player and the Teacher think, for 99.9% of these footballers he was the father of our careers, for me it is, and moments like this are hard and ugly, but they are things that happen, you have to accept them and move on ”.
“I am more and more convinced that football has no memory and that is more than clear, we know it. We live from what we do on a day-to-day basis and they will judge you by what you do today ”, Josema highlighted.
Then he pointed out: “For a coach to work three games in a week (as happened in the Qualifiers in September and October) is complex and complicated, because there is little time to work, but in the end it is also the responsibility of the players to adapt quickly and try to carry out the strategy in the matches ”.
And he reaffirmed before the doubts generated about whether Tabárez should continue or not: “In football this type of thing always happens, at some point it can happen and it can continue to happen; we are strong with him, knowing that we are all in the same position and we support him in everything ”.
