Cerúndolo put a stop to Alcaraz's string of sets in Milan

Courtesy of Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (91st in ATP ranking), what looked like a parade by Carlos Alcaraz (32nd) in the last round robin game at the Next Gen Finals in Milan, a string that reached up to 8 sets ended.

Wins against Holgar Rune (109º) and Brandon Nakashima (63º) in straight sets put the Spanish in a privileged place beyond the guaranteed classification to the semifinals.

In that context, the Argentine entered the game with the certainty of accumulating experience. And despite failing more than necessary, he was not doing it wrong.

A single break in the third set left him with good expectations of being hand in hand with one of the “players of the moment”.

The final plate will mark 4-0, 4-1, 2-4 and 4-3 (3) which, with a little more adaptation to the surface for the Argentine, will increasingly shorten the differences between the two.
