Tigres del Licey: The catwalk for leaders and managers

The team has suffered a profound instability to retain leaders in the last 13 years, the first time that José Offerman was appointed as manager of the Blues

Another year, another leader for Tigres del Licey, who, in the midst of a crisis, as a result of the poor results in the first quarter of the 2021 winter ball campaign, have decided to replace Tony Diaz, manager with whom they started the season, by the veteran Jose Offerman.

This is the fifth time that Offerman will take the reins of the team, after in the 2008-09 campaign, he entered in substitution of Héctor “La Manta” de la Cruz. In that year he led the Tigers to win the championship, so he returned for the 2009-10 season, then the 2013-14 season, replacing Mike warrior and he also won the champion crown with the team. He returned for 2014-15 and again for the current campaign.

However, something particular has happened with the Tigers from 2008 to date. A total of 15 leaders, including Offerman, have led the blue team in just 13 years.

Those mentioned Hector de la Cruz, Mike warrior and Tony Diaz, next to Dave clark, Brian harper, Nelson norman, Dean treanor, Lino Rivera, Pat kelly, Luis Urueta, Robby hammock, Pedro Lopez, Luis Sojo and the new general manager of the team, Audo Vicente, who was the last winning manager with the team in the 2016-17 campaign.

The same inconsistency is shown within the men who have held the position as team managers. In just 15 years, that is, since the creation of the figure of the manager within the group, seven people have occupied this position.

The first manager of the team was Eddy toledo, who was replaced by Rafael Landestoy. He followed Fernando Ravelo, one of the most successful managers of the blues, then came Junior Noboa, Luis Urueta, Carlos Jose Lugo and finally, Audo Vicente.

With a high turnover of people in key positions such as the leader and the manager, they demonstrate the instability that has existed in the last decade and a half within the organization.
