EFE – The Croatian national team assured its presence in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after beating Russia (1-0) this Sunday at the Poljud stadium in Split, which was also playing qualification, in the last match of Group H of the European zone.
The current world runner-up was victorious in the 81st minute thanks to an own goal by Fedor Kudryashov, who introduced the ball into his goal as he tried to intercept a cross into the small area. Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov couldn’t stop the ball from going in.
Croatia will be in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Russia, second in Group H, will play the play-off.
There are already seven teams qualified for next year’s World Cup: Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Brazil and Qatar, along with Croatia.
