The historic step of Alexa Guarachi (14th in the women’s doubles rankings) in the WTA Finals in Guadalajara, Mexico is over. The first Chilean tennis player to compete in the competition that brings together the best of the season she was unable to advance to the semifinals with her American teammate Desirae Krawczyk (21st).
They fell narrowly in the last game of the group stage against the first favorites, Katerina Siniakova (2nd) and Barbora Krejcikova (3rd) by sets of 5-7, 7-6 (3) and 10-7.
In this way, the representative of Chile and her North American partner closed the tournament with a victory and two losses, in a season where Guarachi touched the top ten and reached the semifinals of the US Open, in addition to winning two WTA titles.
Chilean tennis did not say present in a Masters Tournament since Fernando González played it in 2007.
