CARACAS (EFE) – The Peruvian goalkeeper Pedo Gallese stopped a penalty that guaranteed Peru’s 1-2 away victory over Venezuela on Tuesday and brings him closer to qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The game, played at the Olympic Stadium in Caracas, was always in favor of those led by Ricardo Gareca, who with this victory now accumulate 17 points.
In the 17th minute Gianluca Lapadula sent to save with a header.
In the 52nd Venezuela tied with a goal from Darwin Machís and in the 64th Christian Cueva scored the Peruvian advantage.
In the 66th minute Pedro Gallese dressed as a hero and saved a penalty kick that helped Peru to win the three points and leave Venezuela in the basement of the tie.
On January 27, Peru will visit Colombia and Venezuela will host Bolivia for the sixteenth elimination round.
