Campinas: Jarry and Etcheverry won and meet in the quarterfinals

Nicolás Jarry (166º) recovered his best tennis and reached the quarterfinals at the Campinas Challenger. Accurate, solid and with confidence, the Chilean defeated the Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli (209º) with partials of 6-1 and 6-2 in just one hour of play.

The one born in Santiago in 1995 came to occupy the 38th position in the world ranking. However, several defeats and especially a harsh sanction, marginalized him from the foreground of tennis. One year after that penalty imposed by the International Tennis Federation for “violating an anti-doping rule”, Jarry is in a formidable moment and regains his level on the Challenger circuit.

That is exactly what he did in the first round against Federico Coria, the top seed, and ratified in the round of 16 against Carabelli. It was forcefully imposed and will face, in the next round, another albiceleste: Tomás Etcheverry (129º). The La Plata, who struggles to enter for the first time in his career to Top 100, turned a great game against the German Nicola Kuhn (240º) and he stayed with the match 3-6, 6-4 and 6-1 after two hours and 40 minutes of intensity.

Andrea Collarini He also had action in Campinas but was eliminated at the hands of 20-year-old Kazakh Timofey Skatov (259th). In a highly contested duel, mainly during the first set, the Argentine fell 7-6 (2) and 6-2.
