The 2021 ATP Finals registered a mark that had not occurred since 1994

The ATP Finals, in its 2021 edition, are reaching defining instances. The contest, which brings together the best eight tennis players of the season, is about to start the semifinals and there appears a curious fact that has not happened since the last century.

In the current contest, three of the four semifinalists have already been confirmed: Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev. All of them, champions of past editions: Serbian five times (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) and Russian along with German one time (2020 and 2018 respectively).

That is why in 2021, after 27 years, three champions from past editions will meet in a semifinal of ATP Finals. The last time something like this happened was in 1994, when they were present among the four best Boris becker (1988, 1992 and then revalidated in 1995), Pete sampras (1991, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999) and André Agassi (1990). The fourth tennis player who accompanied this trio was the Spanish Sergi Bruguera.
