Colombian Sebastián Muñoz could not maintain this Friday the brilliant level he had shown in the first round, he made a return of 70 strokes (2 under par) and dropped one position in the PGA RSM Classic table to remain as one of the escorts of the new leader, the American Talor Gooch.
Muñoz played this Friday on the ‘Plantation course’ (par 72), unlike on Thursday, when he had played the first round on the other court that this tournament has, called Seaside.
Gooch has positioned himself as the solo leader of The RSM Classic, a PGA Tour golf tournament, after signing a 65-stroke card in the second round this Friday on the Seaside and Plantation courses of the Sea Island club, in Georgia (USA).
Meanwhile Gooch, 30 years old and chasing his first title on the circuit, commands the classification with 129 strokes (13 under par). This Friday he made an eagle (with a very long putt of 20 meters on the 14th hole), four birdies and a single bogey on the ‘Seaside course’ (par 70).
This is his best result in a PGA Tour tournament after the first two rounds and improves on the 130 he did at the 2018 Sony Open and the 2020 Wyndham Championship). Lead for the first time halfway.
One advantage over his compatriot John Huh and Muñoz. Two are also the American Taylor Moore, who signed a ‘hole in one’ in the 17th and the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes, who this Friday played their round at the ‘Plantation’.
