Báez finalist in Campinas and one step away from the Top 100

Sebastián Báez (111 °) defeated Francisco Cerúndolo (112 °) 4-6, 6-1 and 6-2, in the semifinals of the Campinas Challenger, and will play the grand final of the Brazilian tournament. There, you will see the faces against the local Thiago Monteiro (94th), who beat Tomás Etcheverry (129th) in the third set.

Báez and Monteiro saw each other a month ago, in the definition of the Challenger in Buenos Aires. On that occasion, the Argentine became strong against his people and achieved victory and the title 6-4 and 6-0. Now, the locality roles are reversed.

This will be a fundamental meeting in the career of the 20-year-old tennis player, born in San Martín. Virtually ranked 104th in the world, it will enter the select group of the Top 100 should it manage to lift the trophy (it would climb to 97th). With five titles in this category in 2021, he will seek, in his ninth final, to raise another cup.
