Borussia Dortmund vs. VfB Stuttgart - Match Report - November 20, 2021

Borussia Dortmund defeated Stuttgart 2-1 on Saturday, not without difficulties, and was one point behind Bayern Munich, which lost on Friday against Augsburg by the same score.

Dortmund had the initiative for most of the match, but had great difficulty getting to the goal clearly.

Donyell Malen opened the scoring with a shot from outside the box in the 56th minute, but Dortmund’s joy did not last long. The tie came with a goal from Roberto Massimo, who took advantage of a loss of the ball by Dortmund center-back Manuel Akanji.

When everything seemed to point to a tie, the winning goal came for Dortmund, scored by Marco Reus, in a counterattack that arose just from one of the few offensive actions of Stuttgart.

Reus himself, after a corner kick in favor of Stuttgart, commanded the counterattack and put the ball into the area to Thorgan Hazard.

Hazard’s shot was stopped halfway by goalkeeper Florian Müller, but the rebound was left to Reus, who had followed the play and defined without problems to empty goal.

The defeat leaves Stuttgart in the second to last place after being overtaken by Augsburg thanks to last night’s win against Bayern.

Wolfburg, Sevilla’s rival in the Champions League, suffered to draw 2-2 with Arminia Bielefeld, who came to be 2-0 ahead.

Okugawa opened the scoring for Bielefeld with a shot inside the box in the 11th minute after a great pass from Basilides. In 54, from a penalty kick, Fabian Klos increased the count.

Wolfsburg insisted and besieged the Bielefeld area and in the end achieved the equalization with their goals in less than two minutes. First the Dutchman Wout Weghorst scored in 62 with a shot from close range and in 63 Lukas Nmecha equalized with a shot to the first post inside the area.

The draw cost Wolfsburg fourth place, which was stripped away by Bayer Leverkusen, who defeated Bochum 1-0 with a goal from Adli.

Bielefeld remains penultimate and in the relegation zone.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, who defeated bottom bottom Fürth 4-0, has had the win of the day so far.
