Damian McKenzie moves to Japan

Damian McKenzie is leaving Super Rugby to join the Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath. The 26-year-old Chiefs fullback terminated his contract with NZ Rugby at the end of last season and reportedly agreed to five months to join the Japanese team after finishing the November window with the All Blacks for Europe.

In this way, McKenzie follow in the footsteps of his All Blacks teammate Beauden Barrett when signing with Suntory to dispute the Top league of this year, which has been renamed as Japan Rugby League One.

In turn, it should be noted that this is the back’s first experience, who was unable to compete in the 2019 World Cup due to an injury to the anterior knee ligament, outside of what is sport in his country.
