The ATP would introduce new regulatory changes by 2022

One of the biggest controversies throughout this 2021 was the abuse of time in the “Toilet Breaks”. During the US Open, with Stefanos Tsitsipas as the protagonist, this issue took on even more importance after the complaints made by Andy Murray, the Greek’s rival in the major U.S.

In this context, according to L´Equipe, the ATP studies several changes in the regulations in relation to this issue in order to avoid abuse by the players of the current regulations.

The first one will be the bathroom break. This will last a maximum of three minutes, can be used only once per game and can only be used at the end of a set. In addition, players will have an additional two minutes. to change clothes if they need it. Finally, the third modification would be that of only one medical time per game at the change of ends or at the end of the set, also three minutes.
