Carla Suárez was honored for her fight against cancer

The Women’s Race was held in Barcelona, bringing together 19,000 female runners in the streets of the Catalan capital after it was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic.

In an edition with fewer parallel activities and with limited participation to comply with health protocols, the one in Barcelona was the Women’s Race with the most influx of 2021 in what the organization defined as “the largest women’s sporting event in Europe”.

And there, a tennis player took center stage. Because Carla Suárez took the start of the test and was honored for her fight against cancer and for being an example of dedication to all athletes.

The ‘Pink Tide’ maintains its spirit of solidarity. At the end of the circuit, a donation will be made to the Spanish Association Against Cancer and three foundations focused on protecting women in different areas will continue to be financially supported: Wanawake Mujer, Pulseras Rojas and Clara Campoamor.

Among the priority objectives of the circuit of the Women’s race the effort remains to incorporate women of all ages into sports, fight against breast cancer and raise awareness about the importance of prevention, and combat gender violence and social inequalities suffered by women.
