The cities of Madrid (Spain), Innsbruck (Austria) and Turin (Italy) will host the 2021 Davis Cup Finals, starting Thursday, November 25, with 18 teams competing to become world champions.

The 2020 suspension due to the pandemic made the world’s best tennis teams miss for the ultimate competition. And as time passed, not many remember how the classifieds got to that instance:

Four teams qualified automatically:

– Spain as champion of the Davis Cup 2019
– Canada as runner-up of the Davis Cup 2019
– Russian Tennis Federation as 2019 Davis Cup semi-finalists
– Great Britain as a 2019 Davis Cup semi-finalist

Twelve teams advanced with victories in the March 2020 Qualifiers:

– Croatia defeated India 3-1 in Zagreb
– Hungary defeated Belgium 3-1 in Debrecen
– Colombia defeated Argentina 3-1 in Bogotá
– United States defeated Uzbekistan 4-0 in Honolulu
– Australia defeats Brazil 3-1 in Adelaide
– Italy defeated South Korea 4-0 in Cagliari
– Germany defeated Belarus 4-1 in Dusseldorf
– Kazakhstan defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in Nur-Sultan
– Czech Republic defeated Slovakia 3-1 in Bratislava
– Austria beat Uruguay 3-1 in Premstatten
– Ecuador defeated Japan 3-0 in Miki
– Sweden defeated Chile 3-1 in Stockholm

Two teams received invitations:

– France
– Serbia
