Roger Federer exceeds any sporting frontier and his last meeting proves it. Is that Siya Kolisi, captain of the South African rugby team, diverted his return from the United Kingdom to Switzerland to immortalize a moment.
The owner of 20 Grand Slams posted photos on social media of him and his parents, Robert and Lynette, meeting the last man to lift a rugby World Cup. It should be remembered that Federer has a strong connection to South Africa as his mother Lynette was born in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
It is not the first time that Federer and Kolisi have met. In February 2020, when the Swiss faced Rafael Nadal in the Party for Africa At the Cape Town World Cup Stadium, Kolisi was present to present Roger with a Springboks jersey.
This meeting set a world record for the most fans in a tennis match (51954), breaking the record set in November 2019 when Federer played Germany’s Alexander Zverev in Mexico City in front of 42,517 fans.
