Navegantes surpasses Caribes and strings together their tenth victory in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League

The Navegantes del Magallanes broke a tie with a four-touchdown attack in the eighth inning to defeat the Anzoátegui Caribes 6-4 on Tuesday, and extend their number of consecutive victories in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League to 10.

The Navegantes are still far from the record for consecutive wins, set by the Caracas Lions when they chained 18 victories in 1988.

Juan Infante hit a two-run home run and Cade Gotta hit a sacrifice fly into the Navigators’ final attack in the eighth. Also on the offense were Pablo Sandoval 3-2 with an RBI, and Alberth Martínez 4-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

Arcenio León (1-1) retired the only two batters he faced and benefited from his team’s reaction to win the game. The setback went to the record of Freddy Pacheco (0-1), punished with four touchdowns without being able to take out in his relief.

With the results of this day, Navegantes del Magallanes lead the circuit with a score of 18-7, followed by Cardenales de Lara (14-11), Bravos de Margarita (14-11), Tigres de Aragua (13-13), Leones del Caracas (12-13), Tiburones de La Guaira (11-14), Caribes de Anzoátegui (9-15) and Águilas del Zulia (9-16).
