WNBA suspends Courtney Williams, Crystal Bradford for May altercation

NEW YORK – The WNBA suspended former Atlanta Dream players Tuesday, Courtney williams and Crystal bradford, for his roles in an altercation outside a nightclub in the Atlanta area in May and related health and safety violations.

Williams received a two-game suspension and Bradford one. Both players are free agents, so suspensions will be served beginning with the first regular season game each player is eligible to play after they sign with a new team.

Williams averaged a career-best 16.5 points and 6.8 rebounds this season. Bradford averaged 8.8 points and 3.8 boards, although his season ended in August due to a foot injury.

The Dream has said that it will not rehire either player. Video of the fight, which circulated on social media last month, showed the two players throwing punches in a confrontation with several women near a food truck.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the video posted yesterday,” Williams said via Twitter after the video emerged. “I would never want to represent myself or the organization in a negative way. I am learning daily, so I ask for Grace as I grow. Again, I apologize to everyone affected and I will be better from now on.”

Williams recently signed with Athletes Unlimited for his new basketball league.
