LIDOM: Puig, Sirí and Hicks make their debut on Wednesday

Toros del Este, Gigantes del Cibao and Leones del Escogido receive major league reinforcements in a night of premieres in Dominican ball

Los Toros del Este reported that Cuban player Yasiel Puig will make his debut tonight playing as designated hitter in the game in which the East hosts the Águilas Cibaeñas.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians will make his second foray into Dominican baseball after spending five games in the regular season and seven in the semifinal series of the 2021 campaign.

Along with him will enter the roster and play the mask Ronaldo Hernández who, according to reported by the La Romana team, is one of the main prospects for the Boston Red Sox.

In 2021 he was at the AA and AAA levels of the organization with a .284 average, with 16 homers and 58 laps RBI in 99 games.

Puig will be the fourth in order, while Ronaldo will be catching seventh at bat.

For their part, the Leones del Escogido debut third bat and center fielder in the figure of Aaron Hicks, veteran of the Major Leagues.

At 32 years old and 9 seasons in the majors, six of the last with the Yankees, he will look to get into a rhythm and recover from injuries heading into the next MLB season with the Lions.

While the Gigantes del Cibao hope to ‘give cocoa’ immediately with the entry to the game of José Sirí tonight as center fielder and first bat of the team.

The native of Sabana Grande de Boyá also comes from making his major league debut last season with the Houston Astros playing 21 games and adding 7 more in the postseason.
