The Sao Paulo Challenger started with victories for Ficovich and Casanova

One of the last Challengers tournaments to be held in 2021 began. In Sao Paulo, the first phase of the tournament began with five main draw matches and four qualifying matches.

On the part of the Argentines, Juan Pablo Ficovich (285 °) and Hernán Casanova (329 °) debuted in the South American competition with great victories against the Dominican Roberto Cid Subervi (296 °) and the Brazilian Oscar Gutiérrez (470 °) respectively by 5-7, 6-4 and 6-0 and 5-7, 7-6 (5) and 6-0.

The remaining matches of the main draw they were for the Spanish Nicolás Álvarez Varona (357 °) against the Argentine Nicolas Kicker (229 °) by 7-5 and 6-3, that of Daniel Dutra da Silva (401 °) against his compatriot Orlando Luz (292 °) by 6-3 and 7-6 (4) and that of Bolivian Hugo Dellien (119 °) by 6-3 and 7-5 to the local Matheus Pucinelli De Almeida (286 °).

Regarding the qualifying matches, other albiceleste tennis players obtained a victory and entered the main draw: Matias Zukas (442 °) and Gonzalo Villanueva (460 °). The first eliminated the Brazilian Eduardo Ribeiro (1020 °) by 7-5 and 6-3 while the second did the same against the Colombian Alejandro Gómez (483 °) by 6-4 and 7-6 (4).
