Tigres surpasses Sharks and scores seven victories in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League

LA GUAIRA, Venezuela – Alexi Amarista hit a one-run RBI double and scored on an RBI single by Denis Phipps in the top of the 10th inning, and the Aragua Tigres finished beating La Guiara’s Sharks 5-3 on Sunday, to chain his seventh consecutive victory in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Amarista went 5-3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Henry Rodriguez added a one-run RBI double to stand out in the winners’ attack.

The victory went to Ronald Belisario (5-0) with two blank innings in relief work, and the setback went to the record of Jorgan Cavaneiro (2-2), after allowing two scores and three hits in his relief of only two-thirds input.

Also in La Guiara, a six-score attack in the fourth inning resulted in the victory of the Caracas Leones 8-7 over the Cardenales de Lara, in a duel that they began losing by five laps.

Aldrem Corredor drove in two runs with a double, Ronny Cedeño went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while César Valera, Yosmany Guerra and Wilfredo Tovar added two RBI singles to lead the Lions’ offense.

In Valencia, the Águilas del Zulia unleashed an explosive 18 hit offense en route to a landslide 13-4 victory over the Navegantes del Magallanes.

Kenedy Corona went 3-for-4-3 with a double, a home run and six RBIs to be the great figure in the Eagles’ offense, which also featured Ali Castillo who went 4-for-3 with a two-R homer, Ángel Reyes 6-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and José Herrera 6-2 with a solo homer.

Yohan Piño (2-1) was dominant with six scoreless innings of just one hit and three strikeouts to win the game, and Jorge Rondón (0-2) lost it, after allowing one run and two hits in two innings.

In Puerto La Cruz, Heiker Meneses negotiated a base on balls with the box full to crown a three-touchdown attack in the bottom of the ninth inning, with which the Caribes de Anzoátegui left Margarita’s Braves on the ground and escaped with a 4-3 win.

Herlis Rodríguez reached base on the selection play and drove in the first run of the attack with a ground ball by first base that allowed Luis Sardinas to score from third base, while Niuman Romero drove in one more with a sacrifice fly after a single by Grandes Leagues Asdrúbal Cabrera had placed Rodríguez at third base. Melvin Acosta received intentional base to fill the pads leaving the stage set for the final turn of Meneses.

With the results of this day, Navegantes del Magallanes lead the circuit with a 19-10 mark followed by Bravos de Margarita (17-12), Tigres de Aragua (17-13), Cardenales de Lara (15-14), Leones del Caracas (15-15), Caribes de Anzoátegui (12-17), Águilas del Zulia (12-18) and Tiburones de La Guaira (11-19).
