Davis Cup: New format for the 2022 edition

The ITF, in conjunction with Kosmos Tennis, announced in a statement what the new format of the 2022 edition will be like. “We are convinced that the format we propose for 2022 will make the competition even more visible and reach more fans around the world,” said Enric Rojas, CEO of Kosmos.

In this new modality that is proposed, 16 countries will play in four groups divided into four cities. Both the first of each zone and the second, will advance to the next phase. It will be played in another city that will be neutral.

It should also be noted that the tournament, which currently lasts 11 days, will last 12 from the next edition. “A five-city model will provide the flexibility we need in the calendar, allow more fans to enjoy the unique Davis Cup experience and ensure the economic and commercial stability of the competition.” David concluded Haggerty, President of the ITF.
