Rivals defined for the 2022 Davis Cup "Qualifiers"

The Qualifiers for the 2022 edition of the Davis Cup are already around the corner. The series, which will be played between March 4 and 5, 2022, will have Argentina as the protagonist looking for a place for the Finals next year.

The team led by the brand new captain, Guillermo Coria, will play at home against Czech Republic, a nation with which it has not faced since 2013.

That last game was played in Prague and it was a 3-2 win for the Europeans in a semifinal which had as protagonists Radek Stepanek, Tomas Berdych, Lukas Rosol and Jiri Vesely for the hosts and Juan Mónaco, Horacio Zeballos. Leo Mayer and Carlos Berlocq for the visitors.

In addition, these two teams crossed paths in the 2012 editions. (win 3-2 Czech Republic), 2009 (3-2 win for the Czechs) and 2005 (5-0 in favor of Argentina).

It should be noted that currently the best players in the Czech Republic are: Jiri Vesely (83 °), Jiri Lehecka (140 °), Zdenek Kolar (142 °) and Tomas Machac (143 °). As for doubles, only two players stand out: Roman Jebavy (87 °) and Kolar (121 °).

The other crosses were defined as follows: France (local) -Ecuador, Spain (L) -Romania, Belgium-Finland (L), United States (L) -Colombia, Canada-Netherlands (L), Germany-Brazil (L), Italy-Slovakia (L), Australia-Hungary (L), Kazakhstan-Norway (L), Sweden-Japan (L) and Austria-South Korea (L).

The 12 classified in that instance will be added to Croatia and Russia, finalists 2021, and Serbia and Great Britain, invited by the organization, for the dispute of the instance for the title, still with headquarters to be confirmed.
