What will happen if the teams cannot present a XV in the Champions and Challenge Cup?

The authorities of the Champions and Challenge Cup published a statement to clarify their position regarding the registration of players for tournaments, as well as what will happen in case a team is unable to present the XV for a match.

In one important development, clubs that cannot present a team to safely participate in professional rugby at the required level may lose the match: “We fully appreciate that this is not a route that many will want to take; however, after a thorough review with all parties, unfortunately, postponing matches is not a viable option due to the extremely busy rugby calendar“, they assured in the communiqué.

At the same time, after consulting with leagues and unions, it was decided to extend the first registration date last month to allow all participating clubs to supplement their rosters with an unlimited number of previously unregistered players. All new players will need to register by Wednesday December 8th.

For what will be next weekend, which will begin the group stage, all players, the coaching staff and the essential club staff must return a negative result of the Covid test in the week of the match
