Sacramento Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry tests positive for Covid-19

Sacramento Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not train against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night, he told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gentry, 67, said Wojnarowski is largely asymptomatic, except for his ‘sore’ throat. You need two negative tests 24 hours apart to get back to the bank.

The Kings canceled their morning practice and the team is testing to find out if there is more positive evidence, sources added to Wojnarowski.

There is no decision yet on an interim head coach for the Kings Wednesday night, although assistants Mike Longabardi and Doug Christie are the most likely candidates.

Gentry took over as the Kings’ interim head coach last month when Luke Walton was fired.

The Kings (11-17) have gone 5-6 in the 11 games under Gentry, but have lost their last three games.
