Rugby Europe, the regional governing body for rugby in Europe, has confirmed the calendar of the competition of the Rugby Europe Championship 2022 , which is the final qualifying phase for the Rugby World Cup 2023.
Qualification for the tournament in France is determined with the two teams with the highest total points from the combined 2021 and 2022 Rugby Europe Championship seasons, directly earning their tickets to the long-awaited main event. The third-ranked team will also have the opportunity to qualify through the World Rugby play-off.
At the moment, Georgia is in a prime position for qualifying after being undefeated in the 2021 edition and lifting the trophy. The second place will be disputed between Romania, Portugal, Spain or Russia.
