UFC Vegas 45: Wide Weight Difference Between Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus; Justin Tafa becomes the first heavyweight to miss weight

The weight cut in completes is rarely discussed, but the UFC Vegas 45 card this Saturday at UFC Apex made history in that regard.

The star Derrick Lewis reached the division limit at 265 pounds and his opponent Chris Daukaus did it at 235.5 pounds, almost 30 pounds apart, for a fight where Lewis will try to take advantage of his power, while the former cop must bet for mobility.

The other heavyweight fight, located in the preliminaries, was similar, but New Zealander Justin Tafa took an honor no one celebrates by breaking the heavyweight limit for the first time in UFC history.

Tafa marked 267 pounds, when the tolerance is of 266 for the maximum category; his opponent Harry Hunsucker arrives with a difference similar to that of the main event at 238.5.

The co-feature among ranked welterweight fighters between Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Belal Muhammad goes smoothly with both weighing in at 170.5 pounds.

However, the preliminaries suffered two more failures. First that of Sijara Eubanks at 127 pounds to face Brazilian Melissa Gatto at 125, and second that of Macy Chiasson, who went three pounds 148.5 at the featherweight limit to face Raquel Pennington (145). However, Chiasson was notified of the commitment with just a week in advance and his team was warning, first, that they could not fight at bantamweight and then that they would have problems in this division.
