Canelo Álvarez y Artur Beterbiev

Marc Ramsay, coach of Artur Beterbiev, assured that it would be interesting a fight of his ward before Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, sure that they would go to defeat the Mexican, not like others who had the opportunity.

“We wouldn’t take that fight to be extras like a lot of people did,” the coach said. “We would go there to beat Canelo”.

Friday night Beterbiev knocked out in two rounds Marcus browne to defend his light heavyweight titles from the CMB and of the FIB, and among his plans is to unify with Dmitry Bivol or Joe smith jr, the other champions of the division.

But if Canelo decides to invade the 175 pounds would be one of the main candidates to measure himself with Beterbiev, a fight that everyone on the Russian’s team would like.

“It would be interesting on several levels a fight with the one considered the best pound for pound,” said the coach. “The whole team wants a fight like this.”

Beterbiev raises his hand to fight Canelo

He added that because of what a contest of that style would represent, everyone in the team is excited, so he hopes it will be completed by 2022.

“We are very excited,” concluded the coach when talking about the possibility of measuring himself at Canelo. “Above all because of the challenge it represents.”

Canelo wants to face the cruiserweight champion of the CMB looking for a title in a different fifth division, although he also wants to sweep at 175 pounds and BeterbievA 17-0 undefeated champion who has won all his fights via knockout, he is one of the main options.

The last three fights of the Mexican, all this year, were against Avni Yildirim, Billy joe saunders Y Caleb Plant, the last two whom he dethroned to become undisputed super middleweight champion.

He is expected to return to the ring in May 2022. The rival is still unknown.
