Tony bellew, former world cruiserweight champion by the CMB, gave his reasons why he believes that Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez I would beat Artur Beterbiev.
“I think that Canelo would stop Beterbiev“, He pointed out in an interview with DAZN. “I’ve seen the warning signs there. I have seen the blows with which it can hurt him ”.
Bellew once challenged the light heavyweight champion of the WBO, Nathan Cleverly, but lost the fight. However, in May 2016 he became world monarch by defeating by knockout Ilunga Makabu in cruiser weight.
His last fight as a professional boxer was in November 2018 against Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian beat him via chloroform in the eighth round.
The next rival of Canelo Alvarez and in what weight it will be. However, one of those that has sounded very strongly is Beterbiev, heavyweight champion for the CMB Y FIB.
Just last Friday, December 17, he defended both scepters against Marcus browne. The Russian, in a bloody fight, defeated him in the ninth round by knockout to extend his undefeated to 17-0 with all going chloroform.
“He did it against Sergey Kovalev“, answered Tony bellew about the only fight of Canelo at 175 lbs. “If he did it with Kovalev, so I think you can do it with Beterbiev, but styles make fights ”.
Canelo Álvarez’s plans: Beterbiev?
The plan of Canelo Y Eddy reynoso is that in May I go up to cruiserweight to challenge the champion of the CMB, which is exactly Makabu, who fought with Bellew.
But the Congolese has to make a mandatory defense against Thabiso Mchunu at the end of January, in Florida.
Another possibility is that Saul go up to light heavyweight looking to challenge one of the champions of that category, either Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol.
