Rafael Nadal announced that he tested positive for covid 19 after returning from Abu Dhabi

Rafael Nadal announced through his social networks that, upon his return home from the Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament, where he reappeared after more than four months, tested positive for covid 19.

“Hello everyone. I wanted to announce that on my return home from the Abu Dhabi tournament, I have tested positive for covid in the PCR test that was carried out when I arrived in Spain “, the tennis player published this Monday.

Nadal explains that both Kuwait and Abu Dhabi passed controls every two days and all were negative, the last one on Friday and reveals that he is “having some unpleasant moments”, but trusts “to improve little by little”.

“Now I am confined to home and I have informed the results to the people who have been in contact with me,” says the former world number one, who indicates that due to this situation he has to “have total flexibility” with his calendar and will analyze his options depending on evolution.

Nadal opened an academy in Kuwait, where he played a game against David Ferrer, and this weekend he reappeared after four months in Abu Dhabi the Mubadala tournament, in which he lost to British Andy Murray and Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

He had planned to go to the Melbourne tournament, from January 3 to 9, to face later the Australian Open, from 17. Its evolution, therefore, will mark its immediate sporting future.
