Chilean sport already has the Best of the Best of this 2021. The golfer Guillermo Pereira won this Monday with the prestigious award given by the Circle of Sports Journalists of Chile.
“Mito” had already received the award as the best athlete of the year by the Chilean Olympic Committee, which is why it closes this year in a remarkable way.
In the season, the Creole had its highest point with the fourth place obtained in the Tokyo Olympics. In addition, he completed three titles on the Korn Ferry Tour and his direct promotion to the PGA Tour, the world’s top circuit, where he has already stood out with three top-10s.
Meanwhile, Alberto Abarza stayed with the same winner in the Paralympic modality, after completing a brilliant participation in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. In the event of the five rings, he became the second Chilean to win a gold medal since the 2011 edition (Cristián Valenzuela), by winning the 100m backstroke in the S2 category, and taking two silver medals in the tests of 50m backstroke and 200m freestyle, respectively.
