A lone goal by Dutchman Denzel Dumfries within half an hour of play was enough this Wednesday for the defending champions Inter Milan to beat Torino 1-0 at the San Siro and seal their seventh consecutive victory in Serie A.
Simone Inzaghi’s team controlled the match with authority, but Torino competed with commitment and managed to limit the offensive power of a team that had just beaten Salernitana 5-0.
Dumfries, signed last summer from PSV Eindhoven to replace Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, culminated an Inter -ista counterattack with the decisive goal to break the Turin wall in the 30th minute.
Inzaghi opted for Argentine Lautaro Martínez and Bosnian Edin Dzeko up front and Chilean Arturo Vidal in midfield, while Chilean Alexis Sánchez and Uruguayan Matías Vecino took the field at the restart.
Inter momentarily adds seven points ahead of Milan and Napoli, who play this Wednesday against Empoli and Spezia, respectively.
