Karl-Anthony Towns and 5 more Wolves, to security protocols

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns entered NBA health and safety protocols before Minnesota’s game in Utah on Thursday.

KAT joins six Timberwolves players in the protocols, including starters Patrick Beverley, Anthony Edwards and Jarred Vanderbilt.

Towns’ mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, died at age 59 last year from complications with COVID-19. Towns said before last season that six other family members had also died of complications from the virus.

The All-Star center tested positive for COVID-19 in January of last season and missed 13 games.

“I’m a high-risk case,” Towns said of her experience with the virus after she returned. “COVID did not treat me well at all. Many scary nights.”
