Cacique Medina is the new coach of Inter de Porto Alegre

Inter of Porto Alegre swaps a Uruguayan technical director for another: Alexander Medina was officially appointed as the new coach of the Colorado team, to occupy the place that had become vacant after the departure of Diego Aguirre.

The “Cacique”, who made his first weapons as DT in Nacional, comes from having an outstanding performance in Talleres de Córdoba not only because of his very good results, but also because of the game that the “T” team showed under his leadership.

Medina led Talleres during 87 games in which he won 39 victories, 25 draws and 23 defeats, with 123 goals for and 94 against and an effectiveness percentage of 54 percent. Among his achievements, he managed to classify the team to CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2021 and CONMEBOL Libertadores 2022. He was also 3rd in the Professional League of Argentina 2021 and runner-up in the Argentine Cup after falling in the definition against Boca on penalties.

As a distinction, he is the only coach in the history of the Cordoba team to have beaten the 5 greats of Argentine football.

He will have the responsibility of assuming the position of one of the most important teams in Brazil such as Inter de Porto Alegre, who comes from an irregular campaign, first by the hand of Spaniard Miguel Ángel Ramírez, and later under the leadership of “la Fiera” Diego Aguirre.

Medina was one of the candidates to assume the technical direction of the Uruguayan National Team that finally remained in the hands of Diego Alonso.

Once that possibility is closed, the door is opened for the “Cacique” to lead in one of the most powerful leagues in the world.
