Real Madrid announced this Wednesday that four of its footballers had tested positive for COVID-19, including the Uruguayan Federico Valverde, as well as Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga.
The club made the announcement through a short statement on its website. For “Pajarito” it is the second time that he has been infected with the virus, after having contracted it in April of this year. On that occasion, the former Peñarol missed the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Chelsea, as well as four La Liga games in the final stretch of the same.
It remains to be seen how this news will affect Valverde’s participation in the Uruguayan National Team for the next date of the South American Qualifiers., when on January 27 Uruguay faced Paraguay in Diego Alonso’s debut as a coach.
