Shohei Othani is Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year

ANAHEIM, California – Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani is the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year.

The two-way Japanese player did things during 2021 that almost no one alive had seen in sports. That is why it won the prestigious award given by the renowned press agency.

The unanimous MVP of the American League put together a season unmatched in his sport’s last century.

No one else had been an everyday two-way gamer for most of the last century. No one has been both one of baseball’s best power hitters and one of its best starting pitchers since Babe Ruth performed feats at the plate and the mound in 1919.
