Change in the American Rugby Super League: there will be no games in Buenos Aires

A few days after announcing the fixture for the 2022 season, the American Rugby Super League (SLAR) reported planning changes: Buenos Aires will not host as originally planned and instead, matches will be played in Paraguay, in headquarters to be defined.

It was confirmed that Paraguay will host two full dates in the new edition of the SLAR; Paraguayans will be able to see Olimpia Lions from home, and the remaining participating teams by checking the venues of the first round matches (five dates). The fourth and fifth dates will be played in Paraguay.

In the progress of logistical issues, unforeseen situations arose for the organization that, beyond the best intentions to try to solve them, became conditioning factors.

The days scheduled to be played in Buenos Aires cannot be held at that venue., as originally planned.

Operational and logistics costs in that country allowed exploring other alternatives such as headquarters, maintaining the commitment of South America Rugby and SLAR to spread rugby throughout the region.

SLAR 2022 does not modify its competition system and will keep Chile and Uruguay as confirmed venues.

In Montevideo will play the second complete stage (five dates), semifinal and final.

The same six franchises that acted in the second experience of this contest will compete: defending champion Jaguares XV (Argentina), Peñarol Rugby (Uruguay), Selknam (Chile), Olimpia Lions (Paraguay), Cobras Brasil XV (Brazil) and Cafeteros Pro (Colombia).

The new headquarters or sites will be confirmed in due course.
