Cade Gotta hit a two-touchdown single to cap a four-run attack in the sixth inning in which the Navegantes del Magallanes defeated the Tigres de Aragua 6-3 on Sunday, ratifying his lead in the Round Robin that grants two walks to the final series of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
Gotta was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to become the Navigators’ star, while Gabriel Noriega had two more at the plate.
Enderson Franco won (2-0) with two blank innings in relief work, and Leonel Campos (1-1) lost, punished with three runs in just one chapter and a third.
At La Guaira, the Lara Cardinals had a solid opening from Williams Pérez to defeat the Caracas Leones 5-2.
Pérez (2-0) completed five blank innings of four hits to take the credit. The setback went to Ronald Herrera’s record (0-1) by conceding three touchdowns and five hits in five innings.
On offense, Gorkys Hernández 4-3 with two RBIs and Juniel Querecuto 4-3 with one RBI and one scored stood out.
