Cardinals sink Navegantes and climb to lead in LVBP playoffs

The Lara Cardinals exploded with a four-touchdown attack in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, and subsequently scored three times in the tenth inning to complete a sensational somersault and defeat the Navegantes del Magallanes 9-6, with who now share the leadership of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Ali Castillo hit a bases-loaded double to drive in three runs in the ninth and Juniel Querecuto followed with an RBI single to tie the game. At the top of the tenth inning, it was Alí Sánchez, who with a two-touch RBI double, defined the game in favor of the Lara Cardinals.

Vicente Campos won (1-0) with two blank innings of two strikeouts in relief work, and lost Enderson Franco (2-1), punished with three touchdowns in his one-chapter relief.

At Puerto La Cruz, Alexi Amarista went 3-2 with two doubles and two RBIs, Henry Rodríguez went 5-2 with two RBIs and Denis Phipps went 3-2 with an RBI in the Tigres de Aragua victory. 6-3 over the Caribes de Anzoátegui.

Carlos Teller (1-0) scored the victory with a solid work of six episodes in which he allowed one run and four hits with four strikeouts, while the loss went to the record of Yohan Piño (1-1), after conceding three annotations and five unknowns in five and a third chapters.

Navegantes del Magallanes and Cardenales de Lara lead the Round Robin with a 4-2 record, followed by Caribes de Anzoátegui (3-2), Tigres de Aragua (2-4) and Leones del Caracas (1-4).
