Garin after the ATP Cup: "I don't feel 100% physically recovered"

ATP 2022 is already history for Chile. The victory, by 2-1 against Norway, closed the trans-Andean participation although the victory against the Scandinavians was not enough to advance to the semifinals.

After the end of this campaign, Cristian Garin (17th in the world), who fell to Casper Ruud (8th), made a self-criticism regarding his performance in the contest, where he also lost against the Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut (19th) and defeated Serbian Dusan Lajovic (33rd) by retirement.

“I had three super tough games, I didn’t play the way I expected to play. We have to keep trying and keep working. It is the first tournament and it is a very tough one, they are all super prepared,” acknowledged the first Chilean racket.

“It was difficult to adapt again after months of an injury from which I do not feel 100% recovered. I am missing games. The positive is that the year is just starting. We did a good preparation but I do not feel 100%. I’m delighted to play some doubles or perform a little better in the singles, but I need more days and more competition. We have it clear. I will continue adding, “he added.

With the points he obtained after his victory against Lajovic, Garin would reach, for now, the best ranking of his career next week, jumping from 17th to 15th place. Now, the “Tank” will contest the ATP 250 in Sydney, the last season before the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season.
