One more case of Covid in Boca Juniors: Jorge Amor Ameal

The COVID-19 outbreak does not stop in Boca Juniors: now it is the turn of the club president Jorge Amor Ameal, who joins the more than 15 cases within the professional team.

The xeneize club reported on Wednesday night on its social networks that “President Jorge Amor Ameal tested positive for Covid 19 and is already isolated at home complying with the corresponding protocols.”

The 73-year-old leader presented symptoms compatible with the disease and confirmed the positive with a swab. He is currently isolated at home, with a mild condition, given that he already has three doses of the vaccine.

It is the second time that Ameal has contracted the virus: the first was last March and he had to be hospitalized as a precaution.

On Wednesday, Sebastián Battaglia and Agustín Rossi had been able to join the preseason, the DT after being negative, and the goalkeeper after overcoming the disease.

But four other soccer players presented symptoms and were sent home again: Agustín Almendra, Diego González, Juan Ramírez, Luis Vázquez and Mariano Herrón, Battaglia’s assistant.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Weigandt, Exequiel Zeballos, Carlos Zambrano, Cristian Pavón, Alan Varela, Rodrigo Montes and Gastón Ávila remain absent due to being positive, who has already tested negative and must return from his vacation in Spain.

On Tuesday, Eduardo Salvio, who had been infected in Europe, and Sebastián Villa, who had not been able to return from his trip in time, and those recovered from Covid Frank Fabra and Luis Advíncula returned to the practices.
